16-APR-1997 : - Anupama Gokhale wins National women's `A' chess in Calcutta.

Anupama Gokhale (born May 17, 1969 in Mumbai) is a former women's chess champion of India. She was the youngest Padmashree awardee being only 16 years old when she received it. She is married to Dronacharya Award Winner (Chess Player) Raghunandan Gokhale and settled while training young aspirant chess players.Currently working in Bharat Petroleum Corporation limited.

She won the women's section of the Indian Chess Championship five times (1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1997) and the women's section of the Asian Chess Championship twice (1985 and 1987).

She was the recipient of the Arjuna Award in 1990 and the Padmashree Award in 1986.
